I Have a Dream!

Posted by thenewyouacademy on January 16, 2012

Today we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who is famous for his part in the American Civil Rights movement.  Among the many things he is famous for is the speech he delivered on August 28th, 1963 from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C.

In his speech, Dr. King declared “I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.” Do you have a dream?  A dream that is so much bigger than you?  One that you are called to make a reality?

Dr. King didn’t want greatness, he didn’t seek it out, but when greatness was thrust upon him, he took hold and stepped into it.  Not every dream results in the kind of greatness and notoriety that Dr. King experienced.  But every dream is worth living.  If you have the courage to take the first step and the perseverance to see it through, you can realize your dream.

For Martin Luther King Jr., the first step came when Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus and was arrested.  Dr. King knew what could happen and knew that he had to take action.

We all get the opportunity to live our dream even though we may not recognize it as such.  We all get the opportunity to take that first step.  Whether or not we recognize the opportunity is another question.

We are so often blinded by our own baggage, our “I can’t” or “I don’t deserve”, that we don’t recognize the opportunity when it presents itself.  The good news is that we can let go of the baggage.  We can release the old, limiting decisions that have held us back and move on to create our dreams.

And once you recognize the opportunities, you’ll then be able to take advantage of them to create the life of your dreams.  Imagine yourself for a moment having given up the doubt of the past.  Can you feel your increased yourself worth because you have total confidence in your abilities without “I can’t” and “I don’t deserve”?  With this new attitude and freedom, what would you say when an opportunity presents itself?

The time is now to take the reins and make the most of your life.  You can achieve your dreams in the coming year.  Let go of the stuff that holds you back, set your goals and then you can declare “I’m living my dream!”

Take this opportunity now to register for the “Achieve Your Dreams” workshop.  It’s being offered only once in 2012, on January 28th starting at 10am.  Isn’t the investment of one day a small price to pay in living your dreams?  Register now at www.TheNewYouAcademy.com/training/achieve-your-dreams.
